What Is Fractional Laser?
Fractional laser is an advanced skin resurfacing treatment that creates microscopic treatment zones (MTZs) within the skin, treating targeted areas while preserving the surrounding healthy tissue to promote faster healing. At Dr. Nuriyya Guliyeva’s clinic, both ablative (surface-removing) and non-ablative (surface-preserving) fractional laser options are available, and the most suitable method is selected according to the patient’s individual needs.
Treatment Areas
- Acne and chickenpox scars
- Sun damage and pigmentation concerns
- Fine to moderate wrinkles
- Uneven skin texture
- Striae (pregnancy and weight-related stretch marks)
- Surgical and burn scars
Ablative vs. Non-Ablative Fractional Laser
Ablative fractional lasers (CO₂ or Er:YAG) provide deeper penetration and more significant skin renewal, with a recovery period of approximately 5–7 days. Non-ablative fractional lasers preserve the skin surface while offering a more superficial rejuvenation, allowing patients to return to daily activities on the same day. Dr. Guliyeva determines the most appropriate laser type and treatment parameters individually for each patient.
Treatment Process
- Application of topical anesthetic cream or local anesthesia
- Laser parameters adjusted according to the patient’s skin type
- Procedure duration: 20–45 minutes
- Cooling and moisturizing post-treatment care is applied
Important Considerations
High-SPF sunscreen must be used both before and after the treatment. Patients with active acne, herpes infections, or those using certain medications are carefully evaluated to determine their suitability for the procedure. Dr. Nuriyya Guliyeva provides every patient with a detailed pre- and post-treatment skincare protocol.
